Beach Essentials

I was lucky enough to travel to sunny Noosa for work this week and was inspired by the beautiful surroundings to write a post on my favourite beach essentials. I love Summer (as every Aussie does) and the relaxed vibe that comes with the warmer months. The open toed shoes come out, the big sunnies are on and minimal makeup is worn. It's just the Aussie way! 

One thing we are not relaxed about in Australia is sun protection. The Australian sun is very harsh and it's important to protect our skin as much as possible. I enjoy the La Roche-Posay 50+ spf Extreme Fluid for sensitive skin and for the body, Banana Boat 50+ spf also for sensitive skin. 

Keeping my lips soft is the Nivea Repair and protection spf 25. I do love a good sea salt scrub, but not so much at the beach. My skin tends to dry out very easily and I keep it hydrated by spritzing a little Mario Badesku Rosewater facial spray on. So refreshing! 

I always a good magazine on hand to catch up on the latest celebrity gossip - my favourite is OK Magazine. Everyone needs a good quality pair of thongs and I pretty much live in them during Summer. Havianas are the most comfortable and have the brightest selection of colours and patterns! 

Large sunnies are a must for keeping the sun off your face, whilst keeping you looking chic on the beach. My favourites at the moment are black cat eye Prada's with silver studs. I do love the beach but  sand seems to creep everywhere! I like a large towel when getting my tan on and Country Road make them so soft and super sized. 

Noosa is such a beautiful beach town with a relaxed, friendly vibe great for a family holiday. I'd recommend everyone visiting this magical place! 

Boating Attire

This week, my team at work were rewarded with a day cruising around beautiful Sydney harbour on a catamaran. Of course I had to make sure I had a cute and comfortable outfit for the day, so I popped into one of my favs, Country Road. They have some really lovely basics out for Summer and I could have easily picked out a whole new wardrobe, but stuck to one outfit (pats self on the back)! 

I wasn't really into skorts when they came out last Summer, but this one just spoke to me; the colour, pattern and the fabric. It's thick and stretches a bit, which makes for a more flattering skirt...I mean skort. I love the bright summery pattern too! My navy singlet is also from Country Road and is such soft material, it's more of a luxury singlet. I teamed the outfit with nude sandals, gold jewellery and my brown leather Michael Kors handbag. This bag just goes with everything and I like how big it is...fits all of my junk in it! My nailpolish of the day is from OPI, called 'can't find my czechbook'. 

The outing was a great success, relaxing on the water in the sun with a few ice cold drinks!

Double Denim

Who knew the double denim trend would be back in fashion after the 80's! Personally, I think these days it's pulled off with a little more subtlety. 

I don't wear a lot of light coloured denim, so it was nice to incorporate this shirt from Country Road into my outfit. I matched it with some dark green jeans ~ not your everyday colour, but hey it works! 

You can never go wrong with a white pair of converse shoes ~ they go with everything. Gold accessories seem to be my go to these days, rather than silver and my Louis Vuitton Neverfull was my bag of choice.

Spots & Stripes

Today's look was very spring on top and winter on bottom. Sometimes I like mixing patterns together instead of adding bright colours. Its easy to do when they come from similar colour pallets. 

My scarf I found in a little boutique store when I was in San Francisco and my jacket is from Banana Republic. I wear a lot of peplum tops and this creamy one is from Country Road. My navy leggings are from Suzanne - I love these leggings because they're very thick and comfy, especially with some flat boots. 

This makes for one of my favourite casual looks when it's a tad chilly outdoors. 

It's a red kind of day...

I think you can tell after some of my recent posts...I love the colour red! It really brightens up a dull look by adding a pop of colour with some red accessories. I think it's a colour that looks beautiful on both fair and tanned skin - no matter if you add a scarf, flat shoe, red lipstick or like me, all of the above! 

My silk scarf is from Oroton and can be worn as either a scarf or shawl (seen above). My shoes are Country Road and lipstick is Mac - Ruby Woo. This is a blue based, red lipstick that will make your teeth appear whiter! 

So don't be afraid to add a colourful pop to your darker outfits and experiment with different colours you love to accessorise with.
